Site Preparation Across Central Illinois

Every building stands on what's underneath it. A pad that's flat, dry, and properly compacted lasts decades without trouble. A bad subgrade shows up in cracked slabs, settled corners, and water in the wrong places.

Brohez Trucking handles full site preparation across central Illinois — pole barn pads, garage and shed pads, residential foundations and basements, additions, and commercial slabs. We strip the topsoil, cut to the right elevation, bring in fill where needed, and compact the subgrade so the slab crew can pour on a base that won't move.

The fundamentals: strip the organics out, work with the soil that's there, fill clean and compact in lifts, and leave the surface flat to spec. Skip the compaction step and the slab cracks two winters later. Skip the strip and grass rots under the pad. Done right once.

One contractor for the strip, the dig, the fill hauling, the compaction, and the gravel base if you need one. We coordinate with your slab crew, post crew, or framer so we're not in each other's way.

Our Site Prep Process

Same approach whether it's a 30x40 pole barn or a full residential basement.

STEP 01

Site Visit & Layout

We come look at the site, talk through the building footprint, drainage, and access. Free estimate with a clear scope and timeline.

STEP 02

Locates & Stake-Out

Utility locates called in. Building corners and elevations marked so everyone — including you — can see where the pad sits before we start moving dirt.

STEP 03

Strip Topsoil

Topsoil and organic material stripped off the building footprint and stockpiled to one side for re-use around the perimeter when we finish.

STEP 04

Cut, Fill, & Compact

Cut high spots down to grade, fill low spots with clean fill, and compact in lifts. Subgrade brought to the elevation and tolerance the project calls for.

STEP 05

Footings & Drainage Tie-Ins

Foundation footings dug to spec where applicable. Foundation drains, downspout drains, and sump lines roughed in if called for.

STEP 06

Gravel Base & Final Grade

If the spec calls for a stone base, we lay it and compact. Final grade smooth and ready for the slab pour, post-set, or framing crew.

Every Kind Of Pad

From a backyard shed pad to commercial slab work.

Pole Barn Pads

Stripped, leveled, compacted, and gravel-based pads ready for the post crew. Sized to whatever footprint and overhang you spec.

Residential Foundations

Basement digs, crawl spaces, and slab-on-grade foundations for new home builds and additions. Square corners, accurate grade.

Garage & Shed Pads

Detached garages, shop buildings, and outbuilding pads. Stripped, compacted, and graded. Gravel base optional.

Commercial Slabs

Larger commercial slab prep — strip, cut/fill balance, compaction to spec, and base stone. Coordinated with your concrete crew.

Footing Excavation

Foundation footings dug to depth and width per your prints. Spoils stockpiled or hauled off as you prefer.

Additions & Bump-Outs

Tight-access excavation for home additions, sunrooms, and bump-outs. Mini excavator and skid steer for spots the big iron can't reach.

Equipment & Storage Pads

Pads for ag equipment, fuel tanks, propane, generators, and outdoor storage. Sized for the load and graded to drain.

Cut & Fill Balance

Sloped sites brought to a level pad by moving dirt around the property — saves the cost of importing or hauling off material.
