Excavation Services in Central Illinois

Excavation is everything that happens before the building goes up — and a lot of what happens after. Done right, you never think about it again. Done wrong, you spend years fighting water, settlement, and rework.

Brohez Trucking has been doing excavation work across central Illinois for years. We dig foundations and basements, run drainage and utility trenches, set septic systems, prep building pads, dig ponds, and clean up problems other contractors left behind.

Central Illinois soil is no joke. Heavy clay holds water. Tile lines run through farm ground. Frost gets into soft fill and lifts everything you put on top of it. Knowing the ground is the difference between a job that lasts and a job that fails.

We run a Komatsu PC150LC for the heavy work, a JCB mini for tight spots and yard jobs, a Takeuchi TL150 skid steer, and dump trucks to move spoils. One contractor, full job — dig, haul, backfill, grade, done.

Our Excavation Process

Different jobs, same fundamentals. Here's how we approach an excavation project from estimate to cleanup.

STEP 01

On-Site Estimate

We come out, look at the site, talk through what you need, and check for utilities, slope, soil, and access. You get a straight number — no pressure.

STEP 02

Layout & Locates

We mark the dig area, confirm dimensions and depth, and call JULIE for utility locates before any blade hits the ground. Safety first, always.

STEP 03

Excavation

We dig to spec — straight walls, clean bottom, accurate depth. Spoils get stockpiled, hauled off, or spread depending on what the job calls for.

STEP 04

Backfill & Compact

When the structure goes in, we backfill in proper lifts and compact each one. No voids. No settlement six months from now.

STEP 05

Final Grade

We grade the surface so water moves where it should — away from buildings, into drains, off the property. Drainage is the whole game.

STEP 06

Clean Job Site

We haul off debris, leave the property clean, and walk the job with you. If something isn't right, we fix it. That's the deal.

Every Kind Of Dig

If it involves moving earth, we've probably done it.

Foundations & Footings

Excavation for new home foundations, garage slabs, pole barn footings, and additions. Cut to grade, ready for forms.

Basement Digs

Full basement excavation for new builds. Clean walls, accurate depth, spoils handled — your concrete contractor walks onto a ready hole.

Drainage & Trenching

Drain tile, French drains, downspout trenching, and surface drainage to fix wet yards and protect foundations.

Septic & Utilities

Septic tank and field excavation, water and electric line trenches, propane line digs, and gas line work.

Pond Excavation

New farm ponds, recreation ponds, and stock ponds — dug to the right depth, with a proper clay seal where the soil allows.

Site Preparation

Building pads, equipment yards, parking lots, and access roads cleared, graded, and prepped for whatever's going in next.

Driveway Cuts

Cutting out old driveways for replacement, lowering grade for proper rock installs, and digging to base depth for long-lasting drives.

Rural & Agricultural

Farm field tile, equipment shed pads, livestock waterers, fence post holes in volume, and tile inlet repairs.
